Hey There

My name is Nykki! I am a certified HTMA Practitioner and Naturopathy Practitioner with two and a half years of Traditional Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture studying. As most health stories start, mine also was influenced by my own health journey which lead me to leave my teaching career to embark on a wellness journey that soothes my soul!

About Me

Meet Nykki

Hello! I'm Nykki, a Certified Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) Practitioner with a passion for natural health, mineral balance, and understanding the body at a deeper, cellular level.

I grew up in a small farming community in Saskatchewan, where country living, agriculture, and a connection to nature have always been a big part of my life. Today, my husband and I are fortunate to call a beautiful acreage our home, where we're continuing to build a life rooted in simplicity, nature, and self-sufficiency. As I've grown older, my love for gardening and growing our own food has grown with me. I believe that nourishing our bodies starts with the quality of what we put into them, and that reconnecting with whole foods and the natural world is an important part of long-term wellness.

My Journey Into Natural Health

My passion for health began shortly after high school when I started experiencing a variety of symptoms, including hives, inflammation, acne, hair loss, weight gain, and persistent fatigue. These experiences encouraged me to take a closer look at my own health and explore the connection between lifestyle, nutrition, and how our bodies function.

What began as a personal health journey quickly developed into a passion for understanding the body, exploring natural approaches to wellness, and looking beyond symptoms to better understand what may be contributing to them.

The Experience That Changed Everything

One of the biggest turning points in my health journey came when I decided to get a copper IUD. At the time, I felt I was making a healthier choice by choosing a non-hormonal form of birth control. What I didn't anticipate was how much my health seemed to change afterward.

My skin became severely inflamed, I developed painful cystic acne across my body, and my periods became increasingly heavy and painful. I began questioning whether copper might be playing a role in what I was experiencing.

Despite bringing my concerns to my family doctor and several naturopathic practitioners, I felt that my questions weren't being fully explored. I was repeatedly told that copper toxicity from an IUD wasn't possible. However, something wasn't adding up, and I couldn't shake the feeling that there was a deeper connection worth investigating.

I trusted my curiosity, continued learning about the body's biology, and became increasingly interested in the role minerals play in our overall health. This curiosity ultimately led me to pursue my Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) certification.

Exploring my own mineral patterns gave me a new perspective on copper balance and the interconnected role minerals play in the body. It helped me better understand the potential relationships between mineral imbalances and the symptoms I had been experiencing.

What I learned completely changed the way I looked at health. Minerals are involved in countless biological processes, from cellular energy production and hormone function to nervous system communication and enzyme activity. I began to understand how an imbalance in one area could potentially create a domino effect throughout the body.

Rather than looking at each symptom as an isolated problem, I shifted my focus toward the bigger picture. Through gradual changes to my diet, lifestyle, and mindset, I began working toward supporting my mineral balance and building a stronger foundation for my health, one step at a time.

This experience was a major reason I became so passionate about HTMA and helping others look beyond their symptoms to better understand their own health.

My Education & Approach to Healing

My passion for understanding the body has led me to pursue education in several areas of natural health. I am a Certified Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) Practitioner, a Certified Naturopathy Practitioner, and have completed additional training in female hormone health.

I also spent two and a half years studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, which has provided me with a valuable foundation in understanding the body's interconnected systems, balance, and natural healing processes.

At Root & Mineral Wellness, my primary focus is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis and understanding how mineral patterns relate to the body's many biological processes. I believe that true wellness goes beyond simply managing symptoms. It involves looking at the bigger picture, understanding how the body functions, and supporting its foundations at a cellular level.

Through HTMA, nutrition, lifestyle practices, foundational principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and individualized wellness recommendations, I take a whole-body approach to supporting my clients.

My philosophy is simple: less is more when it comes to healing. With so much information, supplementation, and wellness advice available today, it can be overwhelming to know what your body actually needs. I believe in going back to the basics, focusing on the foundations of health, and making intentional changes that are realistic and sustainable. Once the basics (minerals) are back to where they need to be, everything else falls into place!

I'm also passionate about educating my clients along the way. I don't just want to tell you what to eat, what supplements to take, or what lifestyle changes to make. I want you to understand the why behind them. The more you understand your body, the more confident and empowered you become in taking care of your health.

Let's Work Together

Through my online one-on-one consultations, I take the time to learn about your health history, current concerns, symptoms, and personal goals. From there, I develop individualized wellness recommendations that may include nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, and targeted supplementation based on your needs.

My goal is to make natural health feel less overwhelming and more approachable, while helping you build a stronger foundation for long-term health and wellness.

Whether you're looking to better understand your body, explore your mineral balance, support your hormones, or simply feel more like yourself again, I'm here to help guide you along the way.
